Life doesn’t always pan out the way you would hope. However, where we end up sometimes is better for us despite our desires. This principle is at the root of how I found driving as a career. From an early age, I found a passion for music. I started piano in 5th grade, bass clarinet in 6th grade, and guitar in high school. My love for music drove me to want a career out of it, so I moved from a small town in East Tennessee to a big city, Murfreesboro, near Nashville. I pursued a bachelor’s in music at MTSU and set my sights on making it big in the classical world. During college, I discovered Lyft and Uber. Do you mean I can make money driving and meeting people? I was all in! So, I began the hustle. 

After undergrad, I pursued music, worked several jobs, and drove. There came to be a trend, though. I would always quit my job to drive full-time. I learned quickly that my passion was not being an employee; I wanted more out of life. Then came my big shot at music: graduate school in Cincinnati. However, this would not play out in any way positive. Due to the onset of COVID-19, I canceled my graduate school plans and moved back to Tennessee. 

Over the years, I had grown tired. Music was a highly inconsistent lifestyle, which I didn’t like, and I was just not a good employee. And then I remembered…driving! So I hit the road for, let’s say, the sixth time! After some time back on the road, I noticed something: people were impressed with my service over other drivers: clean car, excellent driving, top-level amenities, etc. Then the thought came: I need to be paid more for this, and I love this! From that day forward, Ride Guy was born! I decided to headstrong into starting my limo service! Finally, the best of all worlds is more consistency, better pay, and a job I love! Now, I never look back, even when it’s hard. I let God lead, and I stay close to my community. I get to do what I was made to do, which feels good! Is this where I’d hoped to be? Not at all, but I could not ask for more.
